Seed Money Project

The Minnesota Breastfeeding Coalition seed money project aims to improve health and eliminate disparities by reducing barriers to breastfeeding through building strong local coalitions and promoting breastfeeding friendly environments across Minnesota. Modest funding is available to Minnesota coalitions in 2026.

Apply by May 31, 2026, to be considered for up to $750 of funding. There is $1,500 total available, and up to four awards will be made.

For inspiration, check out the results of our 2020 Seed Money Project.

Priority will be given to proposals which address:

  • Coalition strengthening: Address internal and external barriers to health equity related to ethnicity, cultural, geographical location, and income disparities.

  • Breastfeeding friendly worksites and childcare: Assist local businesses and childcare providers to support breastfeeding employees and families.

  • Other creative proposals that do not fall into the above two categories will be considered.

Questions?

  • Assist worksites to cover costs of creating or enhancing a lactation space where lactating employees can express breastmilk or breastfeed.

  • Provide education and coaching for childcare staff/licensing experts in breastfeeding best practices.

  • Events and other outreach to the public to increase awareness about breastfeeding and breastfeeding support within your community.
